MyGovID For Company Directors

In line with new requirements, all directors of companies must register for a digital identification number, known as MyGovID.

MyGovID was introduced to help minimise fraudulent and illegal activity amongst business owners, resulting in a fairer business environment.

Once directors apply for and obtain their own unique 15-digit identifier, they keep the same MyGovID when transitioning between roles or businesses.

If you are currently a director and have not accessed the myGovID app, it is likely you do not yet have an ID. It is recommended this process is commenced as soon as possible as existing directors only have until November 2022 to create a myGovID. Anyone looking at obtaining a director role from April 2022 must have their MyGovID before they can be officially appointed.

Directors can download the myGovID app, which is linked to the Australian Business Registry Services Website, to start the process of obtaining a MyGovID. Once you are logged in, directors provide their details and documents to verify their identity.
